Current practice
Students can check out a district-issued laptop or bring their own laptop or personal device and use it at school for academic purposes only. All students and their parent/guardian/caregiver sign the Responsible Use Agreement.
Why we're changing
For the purposes of increased network and student safety, ISD requests Gibson Ek adopt the same computer/technology use policy as the other high schools.
Change to current practice
All students will be issued a district laptop. A storage place will be provided in each advisory room for students who do not want to take their laptops back and forth from home.
Considerations
Gibson Ek has a unique context that brings unique technology needs for personal and internship projects. We will have a process for students to receive approval to use personal laptops and devices for learning projects that school technology cannot support. All technology accommodations noted in a student's IEP, 504 Plan or health plan will be provided.
