State Assessments Fall 2021 for 9th, 11th and 12th Grade Students
During October 2021, ninth, eleventh and twelfth grade students will take the Smarter Balanced assessments (SBA) and the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS) that they normally would have taken last spring. These assessments were delayed due to school closures and remote learning. The length of assessments is reduced for Fall 2021.
Times listed below are recommended times. The assessment is not timed, and students who would like more time to complete the assessment will be able to do so. Students who have an internship will need to notify their mentors that they will be absent from their internships on the morning of testing dates.

Tuesday, October 12 |
SBA English Language Arts 8 |
9:00 AM - 11:00 AM |

9:00 AM - 10:30 AM |
Tuesday, October 26 |
SBA English Language Arts 10 |
9:00 AM - 11:00 AM |
Eleventh grade students will take the WCAS 11 in the spring
Eleventh grade students also have the opportunity to take the PSAT on Wednesday, October 13.

*Seniors who have met their graduation pathway through another path (such as AP, SAT, ACT or ASVAB score) do NOT need to take SBA Math or SBA ELA. Students who have met this pathway will be notified prior to testing.
Students and families who would like to familiarize themselves with the format or practice assessment items, can go to OSPI’s practice test site (be sure to select the grade level of the assessment).
If you would like more information about Washington State assessments, please visit OSPI’s website.
If you have any questions about testing at Gibson Ek, please contact Tonja Reischl.
SAT for Juniors
We will be offering the SAT exam to juniors on Tuesday, April 26, at Gibson Ek High School.
The registration deadline is Friday, March 11. If your student would like to take the SAT, please login to your student portal through the Gibson Ek website ("Pay Fees and Fines").
Test Cost
The cost to take the test is $55. Funds to cover the cost are available for qualifying students. Contact Cathy Grizzel (grizzelc@issaquah.wednet.edu or 425-837-6352) with any questions about payment or to request funds.
Test Accommodations
The deadline to request accommodations is Friday, Feb. 18. The College Board, which administers the SAT, approves any requests for testing accommodations. If your student needs testing accommodations (as documented on an IEP, 504 or ELL plan), please complete the request form and contact our counselor Shawn Mulanix (mulanixs@issaquah.wednet.edu) no later than Friday, Feb. 18.
For more information about testing accommodations and the College Board, please visit their website. Students only need to apply for accommodations one time, and then approved accommodations will apply to any College Board exam (PSAT, SAT, AP).
LTI & Testing
Test administration falls on an internship day, so students need to communicate with their mentors to let them know they will be absent on April 26.
Alternate Test Dates
Students who would like to take the SAT on a different date can register directly with the College Board at https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/sat/registration. Tests on these dates are at locations other than Gibson Ek. April 26 is the only day testing is happening at Gibson Ek.
